Tone – also referred to as a simple tone. It is a simple sound that has a sinusoidal waveform and a specific amplitude, phase, and frequency. A tone can be produced using an electroacoustic generator or a tuning fork.

In accordance with the understanding of acoustics, each sound consists of tones, as simple sounds. Complex sounds, such as singing or the sound of musical instruments, are broken down into tones. Sounds are multiples of the fundamental tone, arranged in a harmonic series. The timbre of the audible and produced sound depends, among other things, on the intensity of the simple tones that make it up, as well as the ranges of their frequencies. Tones fall within the range of sounds audible to humans.

Tones are classified according to their frequency as follows:

bass (low tones from 20 Hz to 300 Hz);

mid tones (from 300 Hz to 3000 Hz);

sopranos (high tones from 3000 Hz to 20 kHz).

Amplitude is also used to describe and systematize tones, which affects the loudness of the tone. A simple tone is also referred to as a pure tone.
