Low tones – low tones are also known as bass. Their frequency ranges from 20 Hz to 300 Hz. They belong to the extreme (low) sounds that are audible to humans.
Bass is a simple sound that has a sinusoidal character. It has a strictly defined low frequency, as well as a sound phase and amplitude. Bass sounds can be generated artificially using an electroacoustic generator or a tuning fork. Low tones are part of the harmonic component and create complex sounds. The timbre and quality of the sound depend, among other things, on its intensity, frequency, and the room in which it propagates.
Tones with a frequency below the threshold of 20 Hz are too low to be heard by humans and are classified as infrasound. Skillful management of room acoustics is crucial for achieving low tones. This can be challenging in small rooms, where sound repeatedly reflects off the walls. In such cases, it is advisable to use acoustic treatments.
Bass is also the lowest solo male voice.
