Audible sounds – audible sounds are defined as sounds that fall within the frequency range audible to the human ear. This term allows for their separation from infrasound (too quiet and low) and ultrasound (too high), which are not audible to the human ear. Average humans can perceive sounds in the frequency range from 16 Hz to 20 kHz.

The perception of audible sounds is made possible by the auditory organs, namely the ears. For different people, audible sounds may fall within different ranges and will vary in intensity and comprehension. The sound intensity level is measured in decibels.

Audible sound is a sensory experience that arises from the action of an acoustic wave (sound wave). The latter propagates in a given elastic medium, such as air, and then reaches the human auditory apparatus, that is, the ears. If certain sounds are not perceived by humans, they cannot be classified as audible sounds. With aging, this range may proportionally decrease and may vary for each of us.
